This exclusive estate is located just a few minutes from a town center in the heart of the Monferrato wine region. The historic property was owned by one of the region's best-known wine producers for over a century, until it was bought and extensively renovated by the current owner around 20 years ago.
Although it is on its own hill with a wonderful panoramic view, the property enjoys absolute privacy in its immediate vicinity. The larger cities of Asti and Alba are each about 20 km away.
The L-shaped building faces south and offers a spacious living area of 750 m². During the very extensive renovation, great importance was attached to the preservation of the historic vaulted ceilings and the natural stone walls in the antique wine cellar. Only high-quality materials were used - such as chestnut wood and marble, as well as hand-made bricks and tiles - and these give the building its unique country house character.
The large entrance hall opens into a living space of more than 100 m², featuring an impressive, historic open fireplace. Several large glass doors open to the courtyard, giving the room a lot of light. Also on the ground floor there is a large, cozy country house kitchen, a large guest room with a private bathroom, a guest WC, and a glazed veranda.
Both a staircase and a lift connect the ground floor to the first floor, which includes a master suite with private bathroom, 4 further bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a study.
Basement, Cellar & Garage
Stairs and lifts connect the ground floor with the basement, where the imposing, historic cantina - the former wine cellar of the house - is located. The room has an open fireplace, a billiard table, and a tasting area for sampling the fine local wines.
The basement is also home to a fitness room with a shower and a Turkish steam bath, a hobby room, a large laundry room, a WC, a storage room, the heating room, and the 350 m² garage - which is also accessed via a ramp from the courtyard. The garage offers enough space for several vehicles, and is also used to store wine.
Park & Garden
The park around the house features large lawns and beautiful old trees; the fruit and vegetable garden includes a glazed greenhouse. There is enough space for a large swimming pool and a tennis court - even a horse paddock.
The vineyard - certified organic since 2010 - has an area of 26,000 m² (2.6 hectares). Most of it is planted with Barbera d'Asti, but there is also some Chardonnay and Moscato.
The grapes are processed by a local organic winemaker, who produces bottled wines under the owner's own wine label. This arrangement could be continued by a new owner, if desired.
