This elegant Art Nouveau villa is located on a quiet street of an attractive, tranquil village in the Piedmont wine region: in the fall the village hosts a festival dedicated to the white truffle, a speciality of the area. Here you can also buy fresh bread for breakfast, enjoy an aperitif in the bar, visit the small weekly market, eat at the excellent osteria, or simply sit in the piazza and enjoy la dolce vita.
The nearest major town, Nizza Monferrato, is easily reached in 15 minutes, and the highway / motorway / autostrada exit is about 10 km away. The international airports of Milan, Turin and Genoa, as well as the beaches of the Riviera in Liguria and the ski areas of the western Alps, are less than 2 hours away.
Built in 1900, the villa has period character: high, airy ceilings, large windows, a stylish staircase, and decorative mural designs. The current owners renovated the villa in 2008, restoring it with careful attention to period detail, while also adapting it to contemporary standards. The result is an elegant house with Mediterranean flair.
The ground floor includes a spacious, contemporary kitchen with a cozy dining area, a living room with an open fireplace, and a guest WC. From the elegant entrance hall, stairs leads up to the first and second floors.
Here there are two south-facing, very bright rooms, and a modern bathroom. One of the rooms is currently used as a second living room, the other as a bedroom. The living room has an exit onto a balcony that offers beautiful views over the countryside.
The second floor has two more sunny bedrooms and a modern bathroom.
Accessed from the street via a gate, the very large garage is currently used as a storeroom. Stairs lead up from here to the garden area and the house.
Services: Mains gas and electricity, central heating, alarm system.
This outdoor area comprises a large, south-facing, enclosed courtyard, edged with easily-maintained flower beds that convey a Mediterranean flair. The courtyard includes a swimming pool and a shaded pergola, both used extensively in the heat of the summer.
Our personal opinion: A first-class beautifully-refurbished villa - it would make both a fine year-round residence and an excellent vacation rental.
